Word from the Women's Team

Via Coach Jewett -

The racing shots are of Patti finishing in boat 7, second, and the other one is of Christine leading the fleet out to the right. She finished third in that race.
They sailed really well, Christine and Kristina sailed the first set in B and then Carrie jumped in and sailed the remaining races with Christine. It was really impressive to see how quickly they picked up the boathandling and starts that are really tough in that fleet. Patti and Beccah sailed very well especially in strong breeze when it came in. Although they struggled with starts, they were able to pull together some great legs putting them in the hunt on a regular basis. Their boat speed was great, it will be important for them to continue sailing in competitive fleets so that they are comfortable in tight fleets.

Overall they finished 12th out of 14 about 100 points out of first. It was a very close regatta, from top to bottom. Last year the team finished 16th in this event and went on to get 11th at Nationals, with some work this spring I would hope to see similar improvement. Practice week was going well and the team sailed with ODU today and CNU yesterday. They are working hard and having a good time.

Cheers,

Kevin
