We thought it was an away game!

Well, we are all back from Davis Cup, and I must tell you, it was a blast. We floated around on Saturday and stayed classy on Sunday.

We traveled through some rough seas on the way to Iowa, getting some nasty storms and Chinese. Finding our accommodations was fairly strait forward, ending up all fully situated by 9:30 or so. This proved to be a little early, as registration had not really begun yet. However by 11 or a little after, all the teams were registered, and preparing for a day of sailing to follow. We all hit the floors for a rough night's sleep, in anticipation for sailing the next day.

Everyone was up and ready to sail in the morning, as we piled into the vans for a 1/2 hour drive to the "lake." After the various lounging, meetings, and eating this egg pizza, which was either really good or really bad, depending on who you asked, the sailing was postponed until the wind arrived. Iowa was fresh out of Gorge water and virgins. So after an hour or so, some wind had supposedly shown up, and the boats set out to sail. Once the A's were on the water, we all drove across the lake to the dock where we would be doing rotation from, which proved rather difficult as there was a handicap railing all the way around it, which would have to be either climbed over, or slid through one of the gaps. This made for very fast rotations. The wind never really picked up, and languished at around 5 or under all day, until the last race, in which it was a contest to see who could float faster. That was fun.

After packing everything up, we cruised back to Iowa City for showers and such. We arrived at Maria's to find the shower line about a team and a half long, so we said screw that, and hit up Burge residence hall for some dorm showers. Once all clean, we donned our reddest Wisconsin gear, and marched out of the halls with pride, met with limited criticism. After this, we got back and prepared for dinner, at a place called "Bob's your uncle." It was a pizza place, which was pretty solid, where we sat coloring in pictures with the crayons they so kindly provided us with. This proved very entertaining, and if anyone still has them, I could post a scan. After dinner, we did some stuff until the Sunday.

Sunday morning, after everyone rose from there sleeping locations varying from comfy beds, to hardwood floors with a pillow for your feet, we took off to the lake. Chilled out there for a bit, and then got the boats out and drove to the other side. The wind was far better, sometimes over 10, and we sailed about 1 rotation each. We then sailed back and pulled the boats out, waiting for bWest to somehow win his protest...? and then for Wisco 1 to receive 3rd place and Mike and I to get 1st in B's, and then finally pull out and head home. After a stop at Subway/A&W for some food and team pics, we were on the road.
the end.

Results were:
Wisco 1 - 3rd place overall, 1st place in B's

It was a great time, with mentions of wanting Midwinters there, so keep your eyes and ears open for any news.
